Sucking it out fast so that a few rich people (owners of the global oil companies and Iraqi officials on the take) can become richer makes no sense for the people of Iraq. Down the road, if they're unhappy with any particular contract, they can do what Russia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and many other have done - rewrite the rules.
