Peak Oil is not a theory; Peak Oil is the reality of past and future oil production

On August 24, 2009, New York Times published an Op-Ed contribution by Michael Lynch with the title: ‘Peak Oil’ Is a Waste of Energy. As president of ASPO International, I have written an answer that NYT decided not to accept. ASPO International has now published this contribution. (Go to ASPO Internationa if you like to read it).

    Professor Aleklett is correct. Peak Oil is a geophysical fact, as determined by a U.S. National Academy of Sciences report originally completed in 1977 and published in 1979 (page 129):

    Similarly, there are many scientific and governmental agencies globally that recognize Peak Oil as a fact:

    Daniel Yergen, Michael Lynch, and Ed Morse demonstrate ignorance of the published scientific studies in this field. It is appalling that any newspaper would publish their views as credibile. These authors and “The New York Times have acted irresponsibly.
