At the end of last week I was contacted by Terry Macalister who is a journalist at The Guardian. He wanted my views on what was discussed recently in the article, ”Peak oil alarm revealed by secret official talks”.
The article reveals that there is greater concern within government authorities about Peak Oil than is officially acknowledged. Without going into details I can support that. The final words of the article were, “The IEA has denied the claims of internal dissent and sticks by its figures. But Kjell Aleklett, a professor of physics at Uppsala University in Sweden and author of a report The Peak of the Oil Age, claims crude production is more likely to be 75m barrels a day by 2030 than the “unrealistic” 105m projected by the IEA.”

I slutet av förra veckan blev jag kontaktad av Terry Macalister, som är journalist på The Guardian. Han vill ha mina synpunkter på det som diskuteras i artikeln ”Peak oil alarm revealed by secret official talks”.
Av artikeln framgår att det finns en större oro för Peak Oil än vad man officiellt erkänner. Utan att specificera kunde jag styrka det. Slutord i artikeln blev:

Världen producerar 75 miljoner fat olja om dagen år 2030! Det låter hanterbart. Produktionen är i dag 85 moljoner. Må vara att den olja vi producerar år 2030 är dyrare än i dag.
Peak Oil brukar framställas som något dramatiskt.
Dagens ekonomiska modeller kräver 105 Mb/d år 2030. Många anser att en minskning med 25% från detta är dramatiskt. Vi uttalar oss inte om de ekonomiska konsekvenserna.
I en värld oberoende av konstant ekonomisk tillväxt (=energi förbrukning) skulle Peak Oil inte vara alarmerande, men i den värld vi lever i kommer det bli ett stort problem.
