Yesterday evening I looked at the news on CNN and, once again, oil was a hot topic. This time the story was that the US Congress would conduct a hearing with the heads of the five largest oil companies. This reminded me of 2005 when I was called to the House of Representatives to testify on Peak Oil. That time it was the representative of CERA that stood up and assured the house that the “peak oilists” did not understand that there existed sufficient oil resources such that the world had no need to worry. If the House of Representatives had listened to Bob Hirsch, Congressman Roscoe Bartlett and yours truly in 2005 then it is possible that the situation in the USA might be different today. I går kväll då jag tittade på nyheterna från CNN var åter oljan på tapeten och denna gång gällde det att den Amerikanska kongressen skulle genomföra en hearing med cheferna för de fem största oljebolagen. Detta ger mig anledning att gå tillbaka till 2005 då jag var kallad till representanthuset för att vittna om Peak Oil. Den gången var det representanten från CERA som stod upp och garanterade att vi ”peakoilister” inte förstod att det fanns tillräckligt med resurser av olja så att världen inte behövde oroa sig. Om representanthuset hade lyssnat till Bob Hirsch, Congressman Roscoe Bartlett och undertecknad 2005 finns det möjligheter att situationen i USA hade varit annorlunda idag.
