The University welcomed us with a dinner that evening together with the rector and some other leading professors. It was revealed that the head of the economics institute was sceptical about Peak Oil, i.e. economists around the world think alike. Fortunately, others have different viewpoints. The fact that the rector is also the chairperson of ASPO China give us strong support.
Today’s Peak Oil workshop was interesting since there were representatives present from many sectors. Most wanted to discuss the future price of oil, but they did not like that the most common explanation for the increased price of oil was demand in China. Nobody likes to be singled out. Hopefully, today’s workshop has opened new channels for cooperation.
Universitetet välkomnade oss med en middag på kvällen tillsammans med rektor och några andra ledande professorer. Det framkom att prefekten för ekonomiinstitutionen var skeptisk till Peak Oil, dvs ekonomer runt om i världen håller samman. Det är tur att andra har andra åsikter. Det faktum att rektor också är ordförande för ASPO Kina ger oss ett starkt stöd.
Dagens Peak Oil workshop var intressant då det fanns representanter från många sektorer. De flesta vill diskutera det framtida oljepriset, men man tyckte inte om att den vanligaste förklaringen till ökat oljepris var efterfrågan i Kina.
Man ville inte bli utpekade. Förhoppningsvis har dagens workshop öppnat nya kanaler för samarbete.
