Monday: Last Monday Stockholm University organized a conference under the theme of “A new green contract for Sweden”. The Rector opened the conference and then it was full-speed ahead with interesting lectures. I myself took part in a section under the heading of “Multiple Resource Crises”.
Tuesday: My research group has a collaboration with the University of Liverpool and Simon Snowen. Simon came to Uppsala on Monday and, during Tuesday we had an intensive meeting to plan future research projects. I don’t want to say too much just now but it will be a very interesting time that we have before us.
Wednesday: The Swedish National Energy Convention was opened at Älvsjömässan in Stockholm. Thousands of people were there and, in total, there will be over 70 workshops. Sweden’s Environment Minister gave the opening speech and then we all spread out to different workshops. If we count Simon in our group then we will deliver a total of 7 invited presentations.
Thursday: The morning began with a workshop on “Security of supply and demand of oil in a volatile world”. Representatives for the IEA and CERA presented their latest calculations and Robert J. Silverman, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Sweden, described Obama’s energy policy. In the afternoon, in a session about oil and GDP, it was time for Simon and I to step onto the stage.
Friday: The Parliament of the Walloon Region of Belgium is the first parliament in the world to form a standing committee to address questions regarding Peak Oil and Gas. The chairman for the committee together with representatives for the various political parties visited the Ångström Laboratory for a run-down. I will return to this point.

Måndag:
I måndags ordnade Stockholms universitet en konferens under temat ”Ett nytt grönt kontrakt för Sverige”. Rektor invigde och sedan var det full fart med intressanta föreläsningar. Själv deltog jag i en sektion som rubricerades ”Multiple Resource Crises”.
Tisdag:
Min forskningsgrupp har ett samarbete med University of Liverpool och Simon Snowen. Simon kom till Uppsala på måndag och under tisdagen hade vi intensiva planeringsmöte för framtida forskningsprojekt. Vill inte säga så mycket mer just nu men det skall bli en fantastiskt intressant tid som vi har framför oss.
Onsdag:
Sveriges Energiting invigs på Älvsjömässan i Stockholm. Tusentals personer är där och totalt finns det över 70 workshops. Sveriges miljöminister invigningstala och sedan sprids vi ut på olika workshops. Om vi räknar med Simon i vår grupp så håller vi totalt 7 inbjudna föredrag.
Torsdag:
Morgonen inleder vi med en workshop om ”Securety of supply and demand of oil in a volatile world”. Representanter för IEA och CERA presenterade de senaste beräkningarna och Amerikanska ambassaden beskrev Obamas energipolitik. På eftermiddagen blev det dags för Simon och jag att stiga in på scenen i en session om BNP. (Samtidigt satt mina studenter och kämpade med sin tentamen i termodynsmik)
Fredag:
Vallonska parlamentet har som första parlament i världen beslutat om att skapa ett utskott för Peak Oil och Peak Gas frågor. Ordförande för utskottet tillsammans med representanter för de olika partierna besökte Ångströmlaboratoriet för en genomgång. Jag återkommer till denna punkt.
