This morning on the radio show “Nine to Noon” in New Zealand, Carherine Walbridge interviewed Fatih Birol, chief economist at the International Energy Agency. He said “The era of cheap oil is over and will never come back”. Then he made a very strange statement when he claimed that the IEA was the first to warn of Peak Oil. He gave no credit to ASPO and all the things we have done over the years.
His most remarkable statement was about the future and oil production: “One thing is clear. In the next 20 years about 90% of the crude in the oil production need to come from five or six countries, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and the United Arabs Emirates.”. As regards to oil prices, we should accustom ourselves to 120 dollars a barrel.

Fatih Birol speaks to his home listeners as do most politicians wherever the forum. His salary is higher if he does not share the sources of information.
This sort of speaking with forked tongue is a life or death matter for many involved in the Middle East political arena… American politicians faced with science and Peak Oil still must speak to Tea party drilling fanatics, or be shunned. Such is the human condition as the Oil Interregnum envelops us like a fog.
American Bakken shale oil development predicts 1 Million Bbl/day output by 2015. Shift long haul US trucking to rail over the next several years shall save 2 Million Bbls a day. Politics not transportation engineering will rule!

Well, I just emailed nine-to-noon, with a bit of luck they might ask you for a phone interview. Unlikely, but hopefully.. more people need to hear your informed opinions.

From the interview
Interveiwer: “96 barrels per day…” Fatih Birol: “likely case, best case”.
Well, if the IEA is saying (officially) that we are lucky to reach 96(98) barrels per day in 2030, then we are for sure in Peak oil NOW, as you are saying Kjell.
What a recognition! Just disregard the BS “that the IEA was the first warning of Peak Oil”
