The Swedish newspaper Environmental News [Miljöaktuellt] has now published its list of Sweden’s 100 most environmentally influential people. I came in at position 99. The thing that makes me environmentally influential is, apparently, that the Global Energy Systems group at Uppsala University have shown in a scientific paper that the emissions scenarios published by the IPCC in 2000 are exaggerated and that those scenarios predicting an increase in global average temperature of 6 degrees can never occur. The thing that surprises me is that many people concerned with the future are not happy about this. I have, among other things, debated the IPCC’s scenarios with Professor Erland Källén (at position 25 on the list) who considers that the IPCC is correct. Every person concerned about the future climate should think that the fact that the IPCC’s scenarios are exaggerated is a good thing since we can now focus on what our real future may be.

Tidningen Miljöaktuellt har nu presenterat sin lista med Sveriges 100 miljömäktigaste personer. Med plats 99 kom jag precis med på listan. Vad som skulle göra mig miljömäktig är att vi i Globala energisystem, Uppsala universitet, visat i en vetenskaplig artikel att de utsläppsscenarier som IPCC publicerade år 2000 är felaktiga och att de scenarier som skall ge en temperaturökning med 6 grader aldrig kan bli verklighet. Vad som förvånar mig är att många som är oroliga för framtiden inte tycker att detta är bra. Jag har bl. a. haft debatter om IPCC:s scenarier med professor Erland Källén, plats 25 på listan, och han anser att IPCC har rätt. Varje person som är orolig för framtidens klimat borde tycka att detta är bra att IPCC:s scenarier är överdrivna och att vi nu kan koncentrerar oss på vad som kan bli verklighet i framtiden.
