At the moment I am in Bergen, Norway, to deliver lectures for the energy company BKK and for the Energy Forum in Bergen. The latter event was open to the public and, to my amazement, one person in the audience told me that he had ordered a copy of my book Peeking at Peak Oil on behalf of the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen. I did not know that the book was already on sale and when I looked at website of the publisher, Springer, I found the following:

What most surprises me is that it was an economist that possibly was the first to purchase my book. However, that bodes well for the future. Springer’s advertising for the book at the website states the following:

We know Peak Oil has arrived as we now see investment firms orienting investment programs to the subject. “Decline Rate” is the chosen substitute phrase for annual oilfied depletion usually in the Peak Oil literature.
ASPO -USA is debating the Shell President about Peak Oil, and hopefully we will see report here from Dr. Aleklett. We would also like to see regular input from persons of the railway profession with a heart for robust inclusion of railway mode expansion in the Oil Interregnum solution set: “Plan B”…

Jag såg för någon vecka sedan att man kunde förbeställa boken via Amazon.com för $29.62 med porto blir det totalt: $37.60. Förbeställde, då får man ett mail när den har kommit ut.

Hej Kjell!
Jag följer detta med vår annalkande energibrist. Det förvånar mig mycket att man inte talar, har debatter eller skriver i tidningar om detta omvälvande faktum. Diskussionen förs så att säga “över huvudet på själva problemet”!
Vilka relevanta scenarier finns? Kommer jorden att vara svart på nätterna om några år.
Varför pratar ingen om vilken inverkan denna kraftigt höjda CO2-nivå, borde ha på människan (och andra djurs) andningsapparat?
Vad beror det på att antalet demenssjuka ökar kraftigt? Kan det vara en effekt av denna höjda nivå? Och alla allergier som ökar!
Är jag helt ute och cyklar när jag tror att världsekonomins eventuella kollaps beror på höjda energipriser och kommande brist?

Ingridyvonne – det kommer just nu ganska många böcker i detta ämne. Förutom Alekletts bok så finns två färska böcker som jag nyligen läst och varmt kan rekommendera. Den första heter Kollaps av David Jonstad. Den andra heter En gång skall jorden bliva vår av norrmannen Pål Steigan. Båda böckerna berör det kommande bristsamhället och hur vi ska göra för hantera den kommande knappheten.
När du läst dessa båda böcker har du blivit mycket insatt i de problem vi står inför. Då kommer du också att förstå varför det är så mycket bråk överallt i världen.
